Physiotherapy is the treatment of injury and

injury and disease by correcting and enhancing the body's own healing
abilities.

What happens at the first appointment?
A full assessment will take place initially
to identify the problem and to ensure that the treatment will relate
to you and your lifestyle.
Treatment may include mobilization, manipulation, massage, electrotherapy,
exercises and advice.
You may consult a chartered physiotherapist without a doctor's referral
if necessary, but contact will usually be maintained between your
GP and physiotherapist. Some private health insurance schemes require
a referral from a doctor.
Advice on prevention of future problems or recurrence will often
play an important part in your physiotherapy management. |
