Patient Partnership Quality Mark

Tom Greenway of the Waldegrave Clinic was awarded the ‘Patient Partnership Quality Mark’ (PPQM) on January 20th by The College of Chiropractors. Tom accepted his award at The Royal Society in London from Hew Helps, Chair of the College’s Lay Partnership Group.

The PPQM award was launched in 2006 by the College of Chiropractors to recognise excellence in meeting the expectations patients have about their chiropractic care.

 Tom said:

“Chiropractors provide safe and effective treatment, and we are proud to say that the award of the Patient Partnership Quality Mark recognises this clinic’s commitment to meeting and exceeding patients’ expectations of their treatment environment and care. We constantly strive to improve our level of service and always welcome feedback from patients.”

Research Centre Award

The Waldegrave Clinic has also been awarded a Research Centre award. Tom Greenway and Owain Evans are working with the British Olympic Medical Institute, Glamorgan University, The University of Turin and the British Chiropractic Association to assess the effects of chiropractic manipulation of the lumbar spine on nerve impulses down the leg. This research is using the latest surface EMG equipment and will provide a much more detailed explanation as to what actually happens to the sciatic nerve when a lumbar spine is manipulated by a chiropractor. The study means that Owain will be away from the clinic for 3 weeks in March 2010, but will still be available to see some of his patients on Saturday mornings as usual.

The research status also gives us the opportunity to find out from our patients exactly how you felt about your treatment and if it achieved the results you were looking for. This will be done by a series of questionnaires that are quick and easy to fill in. These outcome measures are extremely important to us as they allow us to improve the treatment you receive from the practitioner and makes sure that our clinic pathways are the best they can be. We can also use this information to see how we are performing against the other centres around the country that are participating. This ultimately means better care and quicker results for our patients. Therefore please help us to help you by taking the time to fill in the questionnaires if asked to do so.
