What is Homoeopathy?
Homoeopathy is a system of natural healing based on the principle of like curing like. The principle has been known for thousands of years, but it was the German doctor and scientist Samuel Hahnemann who formulated the laws on which modern homoeopathy is based. In his lifetime Hahnemann described about a hundred remedies though many more are used today. Most remedies are derived from plant and mineral sources.

What conditions can a Homoeopath treat?
Homoeopathy treats the whole person and not just the disease. Because the remedies are given in such minute doses, they are safe and there are no side effects. Yet they are extremely powerful and can treat many problems that cannot be dealt with conventionally. The depth of treatment can often mean that the cause of the problem can be removed, and the cure can be permanent rather than palliative. Homoeopathy can be very useful in first-aid situations at home, but for more serious problems you should consult the professional homoeopath at the clinic.

What happens at the first appointment?

The first consultation lasts about an hour so that a full case history can be taken, including an assessment of the patient's mental and emotional make-up. This enables a more effective remedy to be found. A shorter follow-up appointment is usually arranged for three or four weeks later and then as necessary. Children usually respond particularly well to homoeopathy.
